A quick take on gas lighters

The lighters online shopping is an amazing experience. The variety of lighters presented is astonishing. There are hundreds of varieties to choose from. From modest lighters costing a mere Rs100 to elaborately designed gas lighters worth a thousand rupees vie for the attention of the buyers.

The online shops mention the delivery period and the delivery charges. Some shops provide the facility of a free delivery. Some shops offer more incentives. A shop gives a free knife with the lighter, another comes up with a free torch and yet another with free battery cells. But the buyer has to study all the offers meticulously, compare their pros and cons and then reach the choice. As every shop claims that it is giving you the best for your money, you have to make sure that it really does so.

The reflex use

Among the most common tools now being used frequently in the kitchen is the gas lighter. We are so used to it that lighting the gas has become an automatic, reflex process for us.  We really think about the gas lighter only when it stops functioning. Only then we realize its true worth. It could be a quick cup of tea or cooking something that will need quite some time, the gas lighter gets the fire going and sets the stage. It does not matter that we know nothing about how the lighter does it. And we have no idea about what the inside of the lighter is like.

Behind the lighter

The piezo-electric effect is used to generate the electric spark that ignites the gas coming out of the burner. The potential difference of as high as 800 volts is created along the electrical axis of piezo-electric crystals when pressure is applied on their mechanical axis. The high voltage applied to the zone where the combustible gas is flowing. It produces the spark that initiates combustion. Gas lighters use low-cost but sensitive lead zirconate titanate to produce the piezo-electric effect. We need not be aware of the complex science and engineering behind the making of the gas lighter. We only have to think about which lighter will meet our needs in the best possible way. Anjali, Tescoma,  Mastrad and Celltone are some of the more popular and betterknown brands.

Proper evaluation vital

Online commerce is a shopping experience with a difference for an increasing number of today’s Indians. Until not too far back, it was a case of a handful of online shopping agencies catering to small elitist or young sections of buyers. Now there are scores of big players. And more are moving in all the time. They offer a lot more of choice. Most of them boast of a huge selection. That is often true. They face a lot more of competition. They lay claims to the best prices.  So it will be the buyer’s market. But the buyers have to learn how online shopping works, how to evaluate the offers of various shops and how to get the best at the most economic price.
